The first step includes visibly drawing out the navagation layout of the site, through the use of a chart. At this time I will also draw up several thumbnail sketches of my ideas for the site's design. These will be used as a guide for myself during creation, but are primarily used to give you some options in your site's look and feel. We will also establish an overview of what kind of content you need or want..
The next step is for me to actually create and code the website. Once the layout is coded and functional I will request the actual content you want to appear on your pages. Once I have this information I can start to arrange and organize it into each page so that the content is easy to read and visually pleasing. I take much care to ensure that I follow all the basic laws of graphic design during this stage of the process.
The final step is to get your website up on the internet. I'll help you pick out a company to host your website, my recommending the ones I think are best for your needs. I'll get your site on the host's server or on to an existing server you have used in the past. I'll discuss your other options like search engine submission and get you set up with your own domain name.
The main reasons to consider a website re-design are simple. One may consider having their site revamped if their old site was done on a budget and is lacking a professional look, or if new content is being added to the site and the navagational system is getting confusing or just won't do. Even if there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the site, why not renew your look to let your web audience know you're paying attention to them?
